Wanna do something fun?
The pandemic showed us that life is too short to give your time away for low pay and meaningless work. With AI on the rise, it’s time to build, innovate, and earn a living by doing something that you love. Let the Robots flip the meat.
At Franklin eWaste, “our purpose is to repurpose”. What that means is we resell, refurbish, and recycle used technology, keeping it out of landfills, and extending its use for secondary markets. We’re a green company that also documents, films, and promotes the process to inspire others to do the same and join the cause.
I need help. The business is growing, and we need creative, young-at-heart, entrepreneurial-minded people to grow with it. Over the next five years, we’re going to see a boom in the circular economy and the tech industries that serve them. Franklin eWaste is poised and positioned to become a micro-model for other communities to build upon and make a difference in fighting waste and pollution.
We aren’t corporate or stuffy but maintain high levels of respect, acceptance, and fun when working. In fact, we have a “roundtable of ideas” approach and a strict policy of no country music allowed onsite. Hours are flexible, and time can be split between home and our worksite, aptly named Barnabus.
What will you be doing? Lots! Will it be hard work sometimes? Of course. Will there be a learning curve? No doubt. Will you be out of your comfort zone sometimes? I hope so. Will you be a better entrepreneur and more savvy business thinker after a year? That’s a promise.
We’re looking to fill two positions: Executive Admin and Tech Specialist (job descriptions below).
Experience tells me the person who would enjoy working with our team has something interesting to say, loves to tinker, isn’t scared to explore, and enjoys switching gears to follow the serotonin. And don’t mind rolling up their sleeves when the everyday, mundane tasks of running a business need addressing. Sound like you or someone you know?
Executive Admin: You’ll lead the online sales department, helping get the goods where they need to go, directing the techs on what income to prioritize, helping build social channels to get the message out to others, and helping build systems to make life easier for the team. You’ll also have an opportunity to attend networking events and conferences with other team members, when applicable.
Tech Specialist: You’ll be playing with all the cool hardware that comes through the door and helping determine what’s worth reselling and what needs to be recycled. Specifically, you need a deep understanding of computer hardware (desktop, laptop, server, GPU), experience using bootable USB drives to reformat computers (Windows/OSX), the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware & software issues, knowledge of various electronics and basic repair skills, experience building/upgrading custom desktop computers, experience flashing motherboard BIOs & GPU VBIOSes, and the ability to document and share the process.
But what is the pay???? Get to the good stuff!
The pay is up to you. We can always say no and no hard feelings. We have a budget in mind, but pay will be determined by what you bring to the table, the value of your mind, and the time you’re willing to put in towards making this a great place to work and invest in. Profit Share is always on the table for those thinking long-term. The fine print is that 1) you’ll need to be 21 or older, 2) there will be two weeks of paid training, and 3) 10 weeks of increased trial run pay. We’ll know before 90 days if it’s a relationship worth building. Oh, since public transportation is a joke here, you’ll need to reliably get to and from Franklin, TN on the days required to be here (which will always be Mondays and Tuesdays).
If you’re looking to challenge yourself and have an open mind to learn and absorb what’s needed to grow a business, we’re sure you’ll dig it here.
We’re looking for someone that wakes up curious, delights in exploration, and wants to dedicate themselves to doing what they love, doing something they’re good at, and doing what is good for themselves and the planet. If that’s you, let’s meet for coffee and a walk.
